only just two weeks until

it’s funny.  for the last few weeks, the weather in the west of ireland has been sunny and bright and in the mid-60s during the day.  really unbelievable weather for the west of ireland this time of year.  tho they say often the month of september is the best all year.

however, they actually had a summer in ireland this year, and so the traditional forecast of a fine september may go by the board.

indeed, the 10 day forecast is back to what i’d consider normal.  heavy rain is forecast one day, rain another, partly cloudy the next.  that’s more like it.

it’s going to be much cooler in amsterdam when we get there, but right now it’s a good 5 degrees warmer than kerry.

gardens in the area.

However, the surrounding area is prime garden visiting country. Don’t miss Derreen, described by Terence Reeves-Smyth as “a subtropical Elysium of luxuriant vegetation”, Dunloe Castle with its panoramic views of Macgillycuddy’s Reeks, Muckross beside the Lower Lough at Killarney, Ilnacullin on Garnish Island in Bantry Bay, and of course Glanleam on Valentia Island
